Does anyone know the VAT (aka GST) rate in Japan? I think one must spend 10 000 yen in a single day to get the VAT refund.

Hmm, it's ok, I found out the VAT is 5%, and they also have a consumption tax of 5%. But if more than 10 000 yen is spent in a single receipt, the buyer will only be eligible for a 5% consumption tax rebate. Not VAT.
