well i guess it depends on the environment of the company and scope of job involved.

For me my 2nd job as a consultant only allowed me 1 hr in office during the first day of work and after that being "shipped" to client site to work on my own for the next 1 month or so. Hardly know my colleagues until few months later cos all of us are involved in different projects.

Hope this doesn't sound too scary for those who have a vision to work as consultants. Haha...
