Do "Best Friends" exist? If so, who are they and where/how did you know them?

I'm not a true believer of "best friends". I've had too many bad experiences with friends since kindergarden. All the betrayals, snatching of guys whom I used to like, gossiping behind me, being a hypocrite, etc.. Too sick to force myself to believe that "best friends" do exist.

I do admit I have a handful of good friends.. there's one particularly that will be by my side whenever I need her. So, it's all good and am very fortunate to meet her through ONLINE, mIRC. Amazing huh? It's been years!

YEP i don't believe in the whole 'best friend' thing either.

I just am perfectly content with a group of close friends who stick up for each other! That's good enough for me.

when i was young i often met "good friends" who will make use of me and leave me in the end.

until secondary school i think sec 3 bah, i met a girl in my class who i thought that she is fierce, i'm scare of her! but after spending more time with her as we sitting quite near each other, I find that actually she is a super nice person.

and we became good friends or rather best friend for almost 7 years plus =)

but hmm i feel this kind of thing, it's really depends on luck and fate bah hehs

lol...last time i did have a best friend in primary sch until she migrated to australia...i do have a very close grp of friends whu share the same passion as me: anime, manga and gothic lolita punk styles of dressing...

It's pretty late now, just gonna share 1 friend whom I met on mIRC too Wink

Since I was like 14 or 15, we're still good now. I guess it's not where we know our friends that matters at the end of the day. (p.s: this is for whoever who thinks all friends from anywhere online is B A D hehe.)

Best friends do exist, of course.

These people are people who will stick by you through thick and thin, never giving up on you. They know you quite well, almost inside out. And they are people you know that even without keeping in touch regularly, they will be there for you, if you need any help.

i have a bunch of girls, been through loads and we had our differences but it's just really sweet to have them when you have no one.

i think that's what's true and what's important.

whatever name it is known by, it's not important. so long as it stays true!

I think definition of best friend changes as we grow older...

WHen i was in pri sch, i had a best friend whom we always played together but when we changed sch, we drifted apart and our interests all differed very much & nothing much to talk about.

When i was in sec one, i thought i had a great group of friends but in the end they ditched me too for some unknown reason.

Still i managed to develop close friendship bonds with 2 girls i met in sec 2. Our personalities all differ, strengths differ but we are connected by our interests and sharing of good n bad times. SO much so that we are still great close friends now - 10 years of friendship. They've been there when i experience good and bad things...ALong the way we met new friends but we've never forgotten about one another...And i hope we will continue to grow old together...

And yes friends from online are not necessarily bad. I myself have made several friends from irc, and other online sites. My best friend - defined as anything also confide in and trusting her to be there for me and truly love me for me - is also someone i know from irc. We've known for like almost 5 years and still best friend.

I think whether someone will become ur true friend depends on how complementary ur personalities are, how sincere u both are, and how much u guys value the friendship...

Just like a relationship, friendship takes 2 hands to clap. If he/she is not sincere and really wanna make friendship with u to be lasting, no matter how hard u try, u cannot make the friendship true and last a long while...

i dont think so... for me, i think as years goes by, as we mature, there'll be new people coming into our lives. although i have some very good friends, they are yet to consider the best. am i so difficult to understand or are they just being insensitive? anyhow, people come and go. so, even that i have a friend whom i know since 6 years old till i am now 25, i feel that i am no longer as close to her as i used to, probably because of our job scope, timing is not right, seldom meet up etc... so there are factors that will shift our 'degree of friendships' as days goes by.. of course, they promise to be there for me if i needed them, but the sense of closeness is just no longer there... thus, a lot of things i keep to myself instead.
