When Printing on shirt here are some of the guidelines that is very helful

Don't forget to print your image in 'mirror' or 'reverse' image
Make sure to follow the Iron-On paper instructions for ironing and washing
It is best to use a cotton T-shirt
Most Arts & Crafts stores sell Iron-on Paper. It may also be called "Transfer" Paper
Do not use steam when ironing on the image.
Never iron directly on the image once the iron-on paper is peeled off. You can use parchment paper if you need to.
